BEFOREAfter living with this kitchen for 13 years, the family was ready for a drastic change. The overall goal was to utilize the entire room as kitchen space and to provide a crisp and clean appearance.AFTERBy eliminating the bulky soffits and installing taller upper cabinets, the ceilings look and feel higher. The natural maple cabinets with slab door style are exactly what the homeowner wanted!BEFOREThe original kitchen felt cramped, and the peninsula with upper cabinets created a “dead end” feeling. With space to grow, the peninsula was going to have to go.BEFOREThe original peninsula divided the room in two, and the vinyl flooring with rubber cove base needed an upgrade. Believe it or not, all the cabinets had been hand painted with chalk board paint by the previous owner.AFTERBy utilizing the entire footprint, the kitchen is now spacious enough for everyone!BEFOREThis cluttered corner needed some work. Notice how the upper cabinet was angled and the lower cabinet sat at 90 degrees. The streaks and inconsistency in the chalkboard paint were apparent, and the glass door was a bit out of place.AFTERBy eliminating the countertop microwave, the homeowner can utilize precious work space. Mounted beneath an upper cabinet, the “space-saver” microwave is a great solution for this kitchen.BEFOREThe view from the living room into a distant and dark kitchen.AFTERLight, bright, and now connected to the adjacent room. The bar top is a perfect place for the kids to do their homework while enjoying a snack and spending time with the household chef.DURINGThe view from the range…AFTERSame view from the range… One request for the remodel was to have a good spot for cookbooks. The shelving units at the end the kitchen are shallow enough to keep the walkway open, and deep enough for all those recipes.BEFOREThe focal point of the original kitchen….AFTERThe focal point of the NEW kitchen!
